2010 concerts

We are continuing our summer chamber music series in 2010 with two free concerts!

We have changed venues!!!

Our concerts this year will be at Beaches Presbyterian Church, 65 Glen Manor Drive, Toronto (see map below).

Admission to both concerts is FREE, though donations will be accepted.

Doors open at 6:30pm, and each concert lasts approximately one hour.

Concert #1: Saturday, July 10 @ 7:00pm

"The Bach/Weiss Sonata"
Geneviève Gilardeau, Baroque violin
Lucas Harris, Baroque lute

J.S. Bach had a lasting friendship with the great lute virtuoso Sylvius Leopold Weiss from Dresden. Last year’s Beaches Baroque season featured the extraordinary sonata which these two masters of the High Baroque wrote together (BWV 1025). This summer the performers offer another performance of this remarkable work before recording it to CD right here in the Beach. The concert will also feature other movements by Bach & Weiss, as well as Bernard Joachim Hagen.

Concert #2: Saturday, September 18 @ 7:00pm

“Beasts of the Baroque”
Geneviève Gilardeau, Baroque violin
Lucas Harris, theorbo

Baroque composers delighted in imitating nature in their music. This program features peculiar works which invite the instruments to emulate the calls of animals! Featuring music by Schmelzer, Kapsberger, and others, and includes the unforgettable Sonata Representativa by Biber.
